No one else was in the room with her, besides him. The lights were dim but he could still see her chest rise and fall with each breath. He couldn't sleep for watching her. If she was to die he was going to see her body take it's last breath. She had been his bestfriend for years now. They went through everything together. Now, she had hours to live. A cancerous tumor found on her brain days ago had caused all of this. Although he was raised in church, he found himself wondering if God even existed. How could he do this to her? She was an angel to him. So why wasn't she an angel to god? Even with the map of tubes and wires she was still beautiful. The rhymathic beeping of the machines gave him peace, and he fell asleep against his own will. He awoke at dawn, he quickly checked, she was still breathing. Her lips trembled as she spoke his name. I tear formed in his eye, and happiness fell upon his heart. For this was the first time she had been awake in thirty four hours. "Yes?" he said. "Do me one last favor." "Anything." "Hold me, I've wanted you to for years." He wiped away the tears and began to cuddle up to her. He had always secretly loved her but knew of no feelings she had for him besides friendship. "Let's watch the sunrise over the trees," she said. He held her tight. His arm around her, her head on his chest. "Im sorry," she said. "For what?" "For never telling you how I felt, I've loved you from the start." Those words griped his heart. He longed to hear them and now he finally had. "I love you too sweetheart," he whispered. She was crying now, "I always knew." The sun was raising over the trees as her body went limp. He watched her last breath leave her. He tryed to catch it but it was gone too soon. He closed her eyes and as he did his tears fell on to her cheeks and there their tears had become one. He gently kissed her soft lips and said goodbye one lastime. He held her body in his arms crying both tears of joy and sadness. He finally got to hold her and tell her how he felt. But it would be the one and only time he ever did.
Love is real, too real. You will cry, laugh and pray for more. Most likely it will leave you with your heart bleeding in your hands, although there is a chance that both hearts will survive. Living side by side as one. It is sought after by many, found by few. If you find it, show me the path because I am lost in the darkness with no light.
